Emotional dealings...

The program at the Sedona School of Massage tried to include all aspects of what is involved in becoming a massage therapist/bodyworker.  Not only did we focus on our own bodies, learn anatomy and physiology, but we addressed our own emotional journey.  In this process of learning and being touched, emotional issues started to arise for all of us.  We were all at different points in our emotional journey, and sometimes it was a challenge.  Veronica was our support person, and I looked forward to her activities and her gentle perspective.

I also visited her privately for an astrology reading which I greatly enjoyed.  She has an energy about her during these sessions that express that she is doing what her soul/spirit is meant to be doing in this lifetime.  It was an incredible session, with reminders of what I had heard before, but also was given another perspective on some old issues and experiences that I had dealt with many years prior.  It felt very healing to hear another view.

From the massage school's website: Veronica combines her rich experience with an MA in CounselingPsycology/ Expressive Art Therapy, that allows Veronica to bring depth, insight, compassion and creativity  to her work with individuals and groups.  She was a midwife and childbirth educator in the 70’s and early 80’s, and a Certified Montessorie teacher, working with children for 18 years.  Veronica offers a weekly support group within the class, and is available for individual counseling at a reduced rate. Veronica integrates her counseling and art therapy skills with her love for ceremonial rituals and her knowledge of astrology.

Veronica provided some unique art activities that became very telling about ourselves, our group dynamics and our own process.  She is very intuitive, which I appreciated since there were times that it wasn't appropriate for me to bring something up within the group, yet I wanted to discuss it with her.  The dynamics of our small group was often quite intense, more intense than if there were more people.  Sometimes, I wished the group had been a bit larger so that the intensity was a bit less.

What I learned from my time with Veronica encouraged me to be confident in how I was living my life and the lifestyle that I had recently chosen.  I had chosen to live life as a nomad, traveling and exploring the world since I had remained in the Northeast for most of my life (in the US).  She encouraged me to go to the places that resonated with me, and we reviewed where I had been and my options during our astrology session.  She was excited for me and my explorations which I so appreciated.  My desire in becoming a bodyworker was, in part, due to this lifestyle.  I thought that having education and training would allow me to financially support myself.

I am grateful for this component of the program and for Veronica and her skills.  I don't feel it necessary to go into all of the details of the group dynamics or the issues, but they were addressed within these sessions, and Veronica was a great support.
